Sheriff Bret Bowling is a dedicated Peace Officer with 34 years of law enforcement experience. Driven by a commitment to serve the people of Creek County, Sheriff Bowling prioritizes his role as a Peace Officer over being a politician. His approach to managing the Sheriff’s Office focuses on achieving measurable and transparent results through improved cost efficiencies, the implementation of technology, proactive policing methods, combating property crimes, and suppressing illicit drug activities. Above all, he is committed to maintaining peace and order with the highest ethical standards.
Sheriff Bowling is a proud graduate of Sapulpa High School and earned a Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston. A long-time resident of Creek County, he has successfully operated three local small businesses while balancing his law enforcement service, family obligations, and volunteer work with various organizations.
With 23 years of service at the Sapulpa Police Department, Sheriff Bowling held positions in Patrol and Investigations, the Special Operations Team, the Crisis Negotiator Unit as Co-Commander, and as Honor Guard Commander. He has also served on both District 24 and 25 Violent Crime and Drug Task Forces. As a Supervisor in various divisions, he retired as a Captain over Investigations and the Property and Evidence Room, receiving numerous awards and commendations.
As an Advanced Instructor for CLEET, Sheriff Bowling has trained hundreds of peace officers throughout his career. He also served two years as Creek County Undersheriff, where he gained invaluable knowledge of daily operations at CCSO. Additionally, he is a member of the National Sheriff’s Association, the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association Northeast Regional Chairman/Board Member, and serves as a board member for the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Memorial and chairs the Creek County Law Enforcement Memorial. Sheriff Bowling graduated from the 15th session of the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy in 2023.
